Al-Asab awarded $70m Abu Dhabi gas project

UAE-based Al-Asab Contracting General Transport & Contracting has been awarded an estimated $70m contract on a project to replace trunk lines at Abu Dhabi's onshore gas development 1 (OGD-1), according to sources familiar with the scheme.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract was awarded by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (Adco), which is responsible for the emirates onshore oil and gas fields.

Al-Asab is expected to complete the work over the next 30 months.

The contract was tendered in October 2014 and EPC bids were originally submitted in December of the same year.

The front-end engineering and design (feed) study was carried out by Austria-based ILF Consulting Engineers.

The scope of work includes:

EPC work at seven new gas gathering trunk lines and tie-insEPC work for one (plus one optional) new gas injection trunk lines and tie-ins Replacement of about 32km of 3-inch sweet gas line running parallel to trunk lines Demolition of existing gas gathering and gas injection trunk linesWorks at OGD-1, OGD-3 and Thammam-B stationsAssociated facilities

ADCO is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Frances Total, Japans Inpex and South Koreas GS Energy. The onshore operator is expected to award more stakes to bring the interest held by international oil companies to 40 per cent.
